Being an American living in Italy is quite the experience, fitting in abroad can always take a little time. If you are going to move to Italy with an Italian last name, being "Italo-American" (Italian American) or having Italian dual citizenship through Jure Sanguinis doesn't necessarily make things any easier. Being an American in Italy I've found there are situations we will all go through. Some may even lead to a good laugh. If living in italy for a year sounds like something fun to you and you're having trouble learning the language, learning how to have a good laugh will help you tremendously. Or if you're going through the dual citizenship process of another country like making a claim for Irish dual citizenship you may also find fitting in might take a little time, but it's all worth it :) Being an expat living in Italy, pros and cons will be left and right and all part of the journey.
